Measuring Accurately
Accurately measuring your garage is one of the most important steps of the design process.
Remember to measure and mark:
  • The length and width of the room wall to wall and/or wall to doorways (measure to the outside of the architrave)
  • The height of the room from the floor to the ceiling.
  • The height from the floor to any windows to ensure that base cabinets and benchtops will fit underneath and wall cabinets will fit around
  • The location of any light switches or power points that will not be moving
  • The location of any new light switches or power points
  • Mark the location of existing service points such as plumbing and electricity or any new points
  • Mark any other permanent fixtures such a balustrades or pillars etc.
Tip: When planning your new garage, consider the location of electrics, plumbing, windows and doors. Ease of removal / modification and cost implications may vary so speak to your trades people before you start.
